Destiny of Souls (subtitled New Case Studies of Life Between Lives) is the second book by the American hypnotherapist Michael Newton, published in 2000 by Llewellyn Publications. Continuing Journey of Souls, it draws on 67 new hypnotic regression cases to explore in greater detail the structure of the spirit world and the soul's life between incarnations.
Content
Unlike the first book, which is built as a sequential narrative of the soul's path, Destiny of Souls is organized thematically: Newton (referred to in the text as "Dr. N.") groups clients' accounts by topic — soul energy, healing, spirit guides, the Council of Elders, soul specializations, selection of a future life. The book deepens and broadens the picture sketched in Journey of Souls.
What the book adds
All concepts are presented as Newton's own model:
- Soul energy and "restoration" — a soul brings only part of its energy into incarnation; damaged energy is restored by special practitioners ("Restoration Masters");
- The nature of evil — according to Newton there is no hell, devil, or possession, and "evil" is rooted in the distorted human mind; heavily "contaminated" souls undergo isolation and restoration in the "City of Shadows";
- Hybrid souls — souls that previously incarnated in other worlds;
- Soul specializations — advanced souls have "occupations": healers, ethicists, harmonizers, guides of newly created souls, master designers, and others;
- Three kinds of memory — conscious (the brain), immortal (the subconscious), and divine (the superconscious);
- new "places" of the spirit world — the "Space of Transformation" and the "incubator," where, by these accounts, new souls are born.
Significance
Destiny of Souls continued the success of Journey of Souls and consolidated the system of concepts of the Life Between Lives method. The book has been translated into many languages; the Spanish edition appears under the title Destino de las almas.
